Maseno University receives book donations from the United Nations Information Center (UNIC)
Maseno University’s Odera Akang’o Campus has received a boost to the library stock after over 2,000 volumes of books were donated by the United Nations Information Center (UNIC).
The UN team led by Mr.Tirus Wainaina and Ms.Janice Nduati were received by Maseno University’s Odera-Akang’o Campus Director, Dr. Michael Owiso, Associate Dean Mr. Tom Mboya, Director Public Relations Dr. Owen MCOnyango and the University’s Librarian Mr. Daniel Opiyo.
While giving his remarks Mr. Daniel Opiyo said, “Getting knowledge from books is a journey to understanding creation in all forms. The volumes are going to supplement our library stock and transform the research standards in the country.”
According to Mr.Tirus Wainaina, the UN organization will continue to partner with Maseno University, a move that will help the institution achieve its mission of ending ‘book famine’.
On his part, Maseno University’s Odera Akang’o director Dr. Michael Owiso noted, “These books will serve as an invaluable source of reference for students and researchers and will be a great addition to the University Library.”
